Bait and hand-in
- Island: Volcano
- Bait: Fish Bucket, then the whale corpse in the crater
- Hand-in: Whale fin (after the mutated fight) → Hazmat scientist
- Unlocks: Black military boat and the mainland ending.
The fight
Two fights, one bait chain. Five fish to the scientist → Fish Bucket → Bowhead Whale. Keep the corpse, follow the wooden-plank path to the crater, throw it in, then kill the Mutated Bowhead Whale. The unmutated whale belly-flops; the mutated one adds lava spit. Assault rifle, sniper, and dynamite. Patch 1.0.4 nerfed “Whale” — treat older health numbers as stale.
Common mistakes
- Selling the first whale.
- Throwing the corpse in and staying on the rim — get back to the camp before the mutated spawn lands on you.
- Treating the Goblin Shark as a story gate. It is optional.
