You do not start How to Fish as an angler. You start as the person who wrecked the boat. Lighthouse Island exists to teach the loop: hook a creature, finish it, feed the keeper, spend the cash, and leave with a radar that you paid ten dollars for.
The Crab-Fishing Rod is not a joke item. Ham and Hot Dog cover the tiny Fishipedia here — crabs, shrimp, lobster. Throw surplus clams or cheap meat at the keeper when you need coin and do not want to wait on a bite. The extra inventory slot is the first shop press on this island and every island after it.
The beer is a quest, not a party. Buy a can, give it to the keeper, take the empty can he drinks dry, and equip that empty can as bait. A full can does not summon the Spider Crab. When the crab dies, the keeper wants the shell. Hand it over, take the wooden boat keys, buy the radar tablet off the table beside him, and look for the green dot.
Shop must-buys
- Extra inventory slot (first, every island)
- Crab-Fishing Rod
- Hot Dog bait (once you can afford it)
- Knife, then the knife upgrade
- Beer Can (quest item — do not drink it yourself)
- Radar tablet — $10 on the table beside the keeper
Bait, boss, hand-in
- Regular pool: Ham, then Hot Dog
- Story / boss bait: Empty Beer Can
- Boss: Spider Crab
- Hand-in: Crab shell / meat trophy to Lighthouse Keeper
- Boat: Hand-in unlocks the wooden motorboat keys. Buy the $10 radar before you shove off.
Patch-sensitive notes
- Empty Beer Can is a quest bait, not a shop lure. A full can does not summon the crab.
- The $10 radar price is a shop figure reported across launch-week guides; treat it as patch-sensitive.
